Design II - Spring 2018
The National Black Theatre sits at the pivotal Harlem intersection of 125th St. and 5th Avenue and has developed provocative, educational, and empowering performances since its founding in 1968. This studio was tasked with re-imagining a home for NBT that not only provided ample space for staff and performers to conduct their work, but incorporated a diverse array of programming such as residences and storefronts.

My project for the new National Black Theatre complex aims to center education and discovery, in line with the founding philosophy of NBT, The dynamically stacked blocks draw patrons off the street and into the building with its inviting open transitive spaces that allow one to feel connected to the spirit of the theatre, both in and out of performances.
